Marjon Specialty Foods: A Family Oriented Company

Welcome to Marjon® Specialty Foods, Inc. Marjon © Specialty Foods, Inc. has been a successful leader in the specialty produce field since 1972. Having serviced retail and wholesale companies for over 45 years, Marjon® employs between 120 – 140 people, many of which have other family members working in their department or different departments (ie brother, sister, husband and wives).

Marjon Specialty Foods is now a division of Oakes Farms “Seed to Table” companies in Naples, Florida. The Purchase of Marjon Specialty Foods by Oakes Farms was made in 2019 and both of these companies share a rich history with growing, processing and distribution of the finest produce and products in the state.

Oakes Farms is one of the largest independently owned agribusiness operations in South Florida. Headquartered in Collier County, Florida, Oakes Farms maintains a diversified portfolio of services that reach a global market and include farming, packing, shipping, retail markets and food service and seafood distribution.

Our business was founded on a promise to support friends and neighbors in their pursuit to live healthy lives. This has been – and continues to be – our motivation during every customer connection.

Oakes Farms operates its growing and farming divisions in a manner that respects the long-term health and well-being of the environment, the land, our partners and the community.

For this reason, we created the “Seed to Table” concept, which illustrates the company’s innovative agribusiness model. This naturally ideal and proprietary process starts its journey in our fields, farms, nurseries and greenhouses located in South Central Florida and ends in retail markets and commercial kitchens across the country.

Alfie Oakes
Alfie OakesOwner

Born with soil running through his veins, Alfie Oakes loves to farm. As a young boy, he loitered in the fields to watch the local farmers labor. And during his pre-teen years, spent pre-dawn mornings helping his father, Frank Oakes, ready the family’s small produce stand.

By the time Alfie Oakes graduated high school, he was brokering wholesale deals and harvesting his own crops. Over the next 15 years, he never lost focus on the brokerage side of his business while also buying more farmland, and expanding into the retail grocery business.
